Stories of the unusual lives of freakish characters, comically told by one of the most promising young writers in Korea.
The flagship story “Castella” starts with this excerpt:
This refrigerator must have been a hooligan in his previous life. A hooligan who was suffocated to death at a soccer game and must have been reborn as a refrigerator because he needed to cool down. I put everything in this fridge that’s “breaking down.” First I put Gulliver’s Travels in it. Later I put all the Chinese people who say “If we step on the ground at the same time, the Earth will break in half,” except for two people. How is that possible? â‘ Open the fridge door â‘¡ Put them in â‘¢ Close the door.
The people that appear in this book include a refrigerator who was a hooligan in his previous life, Ringo Star, a huge squid, a dodo (bird that use to live on an island in the Indian ocean), a Martian, a giraffe, an ocean sunfish, Hulk Hogan(the American wrestler), and a raccoon who carries a bath towel around. The lives of this unusual group are described in a comical, yet heart-wrenching way.
